A number of history buffs were on hand Nov. 13 as Harris County District Clerk Charles Bacarisse presented a display about
historic records to the Stratford Branch of the Harris County Public Library system. Left to right are Josh DeHart of Highlands
Junior High, Amanda Martin of Baytown Sterling High, Alton Neatherlin, Stratford head librarian Sarah Davis, Jim Strouhal,
Bacarisse, Nita Wilkinson of the Pilot Club of Highlands and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and Gary Wiggins. Neatherlin,
Strouhal and Winggins are among the leaders of the Highlands Heritage Museum and Preservation Project.

Legal professionals group honors Bacarisse - Scales of Justice Award

Harris County District Clerk Charles Bacarisse tells Elizabeth Stoltz and her grandmother, Suzanne Stoltz, about a display of historic
documents. Bacarisse presented the display to the Harris County Public Library’s Kingwood branch on Aug. 31. It will be set up through
Sept. 30 at the library, 4102 Rustic Woods Drive. Elizabeth is “almost 5.” Her grandmother lives in the Southwest Hills subdivision.

office’s winning the Best Practices award of the Texas Association of Counties Leadership Foundation for its imaging program. The
presentation was made at the Commissioners Court meeting Aug. 22. This is the third statewide Best Practices award won by the Harris
County District Clerk’s Office in six years.

Texas Debit Card in Houston

A Texas child support debit card is displayed Thursday, May 11, 2006, in Houston. Under the new program, instead of receiving their usual
child support as a paper check from the state, parents will have the money automatically deposited into a debit account. The plan is expected to
be in place statewide by the end of the summer.
