Child Support Federal Law Changes

The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has been mandated by the Personal Responsibility and
Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA) of 1996 to implement state disbursement unit (SDU)
for the centralized collection and disbursement of child support payments in Texas.
The disbursement unit processes child support payments in all cases where the support orders
were issued after Jan. 1, 1994 and payments are subject to wage withholding.
