e-Docs

In May of 2002, the public was given access to searching for and purchasing case (cause) documents, filed with the Harris County Civil District Courts, via the internet. The avenue for such access was established by way of a software application titled Electronic Document Management System. This software includes a publicly accessible web-based front-end known as e-Docs. The application's front-end allows users to query, view, and purchase documents electronically. Court document archives may be searched by case (cause) number, plaintiff name, or defendant name. e-Docs returns all publicly available orders and judgments, stored electronically, for each case (cause) found. Furthermore, the District Clerk has recently begun imaging case (cause) minutes, which will also be avaible through e-Docs software.

With the rollout of the e-Docs software, no longer is it necessary to make the arduous journey through traffic and construction, only to pay exorbitant downtown parking fees, just to purchase copies of court orders and judgments. Facilitating remote purchases of court documents from home or the office should certainly aide in user productivity by way of efficient time and resource managment. Finally, and best of all, no additional fees are incurred for purchasing the documents online. Another way the District Clerk works for its people.

The following avenues are available for receiving purchased documents:

  • fax
  • download
  • e-mail

Credit cards are the accepted form of payment for electronically purchasing court documents. Cards accepted include:

  • Visa
  • MasterCard
  • American Express
  • Discover
