Subscriber Access on the Internet
The Harris County District Clerk, Harris County Sheriff and Justice Information
Management System (JIMS) cooperate to provide the Harris County
Subscriber Access Criminal and Civil Programs on the Internet.
Logon procedure
The first thing that users will notice is that it is much easier to logon to JIMS.
The only codes needed to logon are the user’s personal ID and password.
Navigation
Users will also appreciate how easy it is to maneuver through search screens and
detail screens. Instead of entering JIMS commands and using PF keys to move from
screen to screen, Web users can point their mouse and click to get the information
they want. Hyperlinks at the top of each page make it easy to navigate to each search
type.
Printing
Printing from a Web browser is much easier than the current method of cutting and
pasting text from the Internet window into a word processor. Internet Explorer has
a "print" button that you can click to print the current page.
Help
Online help is another advantage to the Web interface. Field names with hyperlinks
open context sensitive help windows. The "Help" and "FAQ" (frequently asked questions)
links at the top of each page provide an abundance of relevant information to users.
Also, where possible, JIMS codes have been replaced with literal definitions.
