New Suits/Additionals

In Civil Intake, the Fee Windows handle walk-in customers who wish to file civil lawsuits including name changes, transfers of venue, and expunctions. The Fee Windows also accepts Civil/Family Post Trial documents and additional/amended filings.

No Fee Window

Documents not requiring a fee and are not new suits are filed at the no fee windows. For a complete list of fee documents, please refer to the Fee Schedule for Civil and Family. The No Fee window handles walk-in customers who wish to file no fee documents, i.e. answers, waivers, motions, certificates, etc.

Service

Once a request is place with the assessment clerk for issuance of service, the fee is assessed, and the service assigned to the proper party. The cost to prepare a service document is $8.00. Service documents requiring service via private process, attorney, etc. are picked up at the Bond window.

Transfers/MDL

Cases transferred to Harris County and MDL transfers are processed in Civil Intake. The incoming transfer case is docketed, entered, and routed to the assigned court.

Bonds

Fees are accepted for bonds at the Bond Window. Bonds are prepared by court order.

Tax Filing

Tax Suits are assessed, validated, and entered by the Tax Intake Department. The file is then forwarded to the Tax Court Clerk for docketing.

E-Filing

eFiling for Courts enables courts to electronically receive and review documents submitted for filing. eFiling for Courts streamlines and automates filing and payment procedures, thus improving operational efficiency and reducing the time spent on redundant activities.
