District Clerk Chris Daniel

Native Houstonian Chris Daniel was elected Harris County District Clerk on Nov. 2,  oath of office on Jan. 1.

A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Chris earned his degree in mechanical engineering. As an engineer, Chris designed oilfield tool and management projects and served as Project Manager in the Tubing Division and Research Project Manager in the Drill Pipe Division of National Oilwell Varco.

In November of 2006, Chris became one of the youngest elected officials in the state of Texas when he defeated the Board Chair of Lone Star College System. During his time there, Chris spearheaded the Student Success Initiative and served as student liaison to the Board, helping bring textbooks online and helping the college expand to more than 60,000 full time students. In that time, the college grew to be the second largest in Texas.

Chris graduated from Night Law School at the South Texas College of Law, where he became involved in Intellectual Property and Patent Law and served as Nighttime Student Senator and Senior Student Senator of Student Government.

Chris volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Houston Food Bank, Target Hunger and Rotary. He is an Eagle Scout, a Lifetime Member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and a member of the Gatekeeper and the Lamb and Goat Auction committees. He loves to travel and has visited more than 14 countries.

Chris is married to Jennifer Barber Daniel. The Daniels live in Houston and are active members at Second Baptist Church.
