Emergency Notices

  • SCAM ALERT – The Harris County District Clerk’s Office has received multiple reports of a fraudulent text message scam. The text messages say the recipient has an “outstanding traffic ticket” or a “toll fee” and directs them to a website very similar to the District Clerk’s website. At that point, the recipient of the message is prompted to enter personal and financial information to make the supposed payment due. THIS IS A SCAM. The District Clerk’s Office does not send text messages requesting any type of payment and has no role in collection of traffic violations or toll fees.

If you receive this type of message, do not click on any links or provide any personal or financial information. The fake website prompts potential victims to enter information for multiple debit or credit cards by telling them their payment did not go through. It is recommended to cancel or put a hold on any cards that you have entered on this site.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) Financial Crimes Unit is actively investigating this scam. If you believe you are a victim of this scam, please contact the HCSO at (713) 221-6000. If you have any questions about DCO operations, please call our customer service line at (832) 927-5800.
